Terminal Server Client

Windows XP/2000/NT/9X/ME

Install Remote Desktop Connection. msrdpcli.exe Accept all defaults during install.

Remote desktop connection is located in:
Start-->All Programs-->Accessories for XP/Vista

Start--> Programs for 2000/NT/ME/9X

Click on Remote Desktop Connection and enter the IP address of your desired server. Press Enter to Connect.

 

Adding LPR Printing to Windows 2000/XP.

1. Click on the Start Button.
2. Go to Settings, then Control Panel.
3. Go into Add/Remove Programs.
4. On the left hand side of the Add/Remove Programs window you will see Add/Remove Windows Components, click on it.
5. Once the Add/Remove Windows Component window appears, scroll down the list to Other File and Printer Services. Check it on.
6. Click Next at the bottom of the window. (System MAY or MAY NOT ask for your Windows CD).
7. Once the Add/Remove Windows Component window closes you can close all other windows.
8. Click on the Start Button.

9. Click Run and type services.msc

10. Find the TCP/IP Print Server service and double-click it, change the startup type to Automatic.

11. Click the Start button.
12. Go to Settings, then Printers.
13. Right click on the printer being shared. Go to Properties.
14. In the Printer Properties window click on the Security tab. If you don't see a security tab, please for my office.
15. Under the Group and User name box you will see a button labelled Add, click on it.
16. Once the new window shows up, type Anonymous and the click OK.
17. Click on the Tab labelled Sharing. Make sure the printer is shared and that the share name contains NO spaces.
18. Click OK on the Printer Properties window. Close all open windows.
19. Click on the Start Button.
20. Click on Run, once the Run window opens, type cmd and click OK.
21. Once the DOS prompt window appears, type ipconfig and hit ENTER.
22. Write down the IP Adddress and the Default Gateway.
23. Open Internet Explorer, and type http://192.168.0.1 (replacing 192.168.0.1 with the Default Gateway number you wrote down). Click the GO button.
24. This will bring you to your Internet Router. Once here, phone our office and someone will help you the rest of the way.
25. If you are familiar with you router and understand how to add port access. Please forward the TCP/UDP port 515 to the IP Address that was written down above.
26. Write down the Public IP Address of your Router.
27. Phone the office and tell them the Public IP Address, make and model of your printer.
28. All done.
